On January 27th 2015, the whole of transition year went to Mullingar for the Briery Gap competition. We were all excited and nervous to present our plays to an audience. After registration, we headed off.
We were one of the first schools to arrive, so we got to tour the place. We had our own dressing rooms and it made me feel like I was in the 'High School Musical' movie. I was very anxious to start the play and I was hoping I didn't mess anything up. I had a small part in the play but I still wanted to give it my all.
When it was time to go on stage, that's when my nerves kicked in full blast. I seemed very calm but inside I was dying from fright. I wasn't used to performing in front of crowds, be it small or big. I had stage fright, to say the least. Luckily, it went alright in the end. I didn't forget my lines or got sick on stage. I was happy I tried something new and faced my fears.
For the rest of the day, we watched the rest of the plays. Some were good, some weren't the best but overall, I enjoyed the range of different plays.
At around 3:30, we headed back to the school. Some of us came back feeling defeated. The judge's comments weren't exactly what we wanted to hear. Fortunately, our teachers boasted our confidence up and assured us that we did great.
